Booster Draft

What is a Booster Draft?
Booster Draft is a Limited format where players pick cards from a common pool of cards. Each player at the table starts with three unopened booster packs. Instead of just opening your cards and building a deck, you and the other players at the table have to draft the cards for your decks.

At the start of a Booster Draft, each player opens a pack and picks the card he or she wants from it. (You can't see the cards that the other players draft.) Then each player passes the rest of the pack to his or her left. You pick up the pack that was passed to you, select a card, and pass the rest to your left. This process continues until all the cards have been drafted.

Next, each player opens a second pack, but this time, you pass the pack to your right. After all those cards are drafted, you open the third pack and pass to the left again. At the end of the draft, each player has forty-five cards—and unlimited basic lands—to build a deck with.

How does Booster Draft work in Magic Online?
When the draft begins, the Draft screen will open.

At the top of the screen is a view of the draft table. The arrow points the direction packs will be passed.

If you click Picks, the table window will change to show cards you've already drafted. You can use the buttons along the bottom of the window to sort your picks by color, converted mana cost, or card type. Clicking the OK button closes the Picks window so you can see the table.

The bottom window shows the cards in the pack you're drafting from. Click a card to pick it. Some drafts have a set a time limit on how long you have to pick a card. If you don't choose a card before the time limit expires, a card is chosen for you. When you're close to the time limit, a flashing highlight will appear around the window and a ticking sound will start playing.

When all cards from a pack have been chosen, the next pack is opened and the passing direction changes. When all cards have been drafted, the Deck Builder screen will open with all your drafted cards in the Sideboard window.

Resigning From a Draft
If you click cancel in the Waiting for Players window before the draft begins, you won't lose any ratings points and you'll get all product back.

If you click Resign in the Draft window, you'll lose ratings points based on the player you would've faced in round one and you won't get any product back.
